"Philosophi lapis" is the translation of "philosopher's stone" - and while that is Rowling's version and very common in English, it just sounds gratui-tously wrong in Latin (unless of course JKR was trying to do some sort of specific modification of the legend, which would be in character but doesn't appear to be the case in PS). Jenny's recent purchase of Harrius Potter et Philosophi Lapis has elicited some interest. You can read the blurb over at the publisher's site.
